Frank (2014)

Frank is the critically acclaimed black comedy following Jon (Domhnall Gleeson), a young musician who joins an avant-garde band led by the enigmatic, giant-headed Frank (Michael Fassbender, delivering an acclaimed performance conveyed almost entirely through physicality and voice). Directed by Lenny Abrahamson and loosely inspired by journalist Jon Ronson's real-life experiences with cult musician Frank Sidebottom, the film also stars Maggie Gyllenhaal and Scoot McNairy, and premiered at the 2014 Sundance Film Festival.

Part of the production filmed in Albuquerque, where halflife* owner David Garcia served as DIT (Digital Imaging Technician), with halflife* also providing dailies for the shoot. The film went on to earn widespread critical acclaim, holding a 92% on Rotten Tomatoes, with Fassbender's performance — hidden inside an oversized fake head for nearly the entire runtime — singled out as one of the year's most inventive. It's a standout credit in halflife*'s catalog: hands-on, technical work on a film that became a genuine indie darling.
